Visit from 5th and 6th graders

A group of fifth and sixth grade students from 82nd Street Academics and The Renaissance Charter School paid us a visit in April. We had a great time! Their first activity involved sorting plastic frogs and lizards into groups using morphological features as well as information on their DNA. They then moved on to the “rainforest” (the lab) where they explored patterns of chytrid prevalence and the threats to amphibians globally. We teamed up with the Hickerson Lab to learn about seahorses, and the Berkov Lab to investigate the fascinating world of insects. We hope this great group comes back again soon!
